Elena Medel

Elena Medel lives in Madrid and is a writer of poetry, essays, a children’s book and novels, founder of the poetry publishing house La Bella Varsovia. Medel published her prize-winning first collection of poetry, My First Bikini, when she was sixteen. She became the first woman to win the prestigious Francisco Umbral Prize, for her debut novel The Wonders (2020), a ‘poetic portrait of Spanish womanhood’, translated into English by Lizzie Davis and Thomas Bunstead (2022).
