Jana Beňová (1974) is one of the most acclaimed Slovak authors. She is a poet and a novelist who has published three poetry collections and four novels (including Seeing People Off, Away! Away!, Parker and Honeymoon). Her novel Seeing People Off (Plán odprevádzania/Café Hyena 2008) received the European Union Literature Prize in 2012 and has been translated into ten languages including English, German, French and Arabic. Her most recent book, the collection of essays Flanérova košeľa (The Flaneur’s Shirt) was published in 2020. Beňová has worked as an editor with the daily SME, at the Theatre Institute and as a columnist with the independent daily Denník N.
