Christy Lefteri

Christy Lefteri is a British novelist of Greek Cypriot heritage and lecturer in Creative Writing at Brunel University London. Her internationally acclaimed novel The Beekeeper of Aleppo (2019), inspired by her volunteer work with refugees in Athens, became a Sunday Times bestseller and a Richard & Judy Book Club pick and was translated into more than 40 languages. Lefteri’s other novels include A Watermelon, A Fish and A Bible (2009), Songbirds (2021) and The Book of Fire (2023), which was about survival and renewal in the aftermath of devastating wildfires in Greece. Her work often explores themes of displacement, trauma and resilience, informed by her experience working as a psychotherapist with trauma patients.
