Fiston Mwanza Mujila is a Congolese-Austrian author based in Graz, where he runs a literature festival. He writes in French. His debut novel Tram 83 (2015) received numerous international awards including the German Internationaler Literaturpreis. His work often draws on the rhythms of jazz and explores the political and cultural turbulence of the Democratic Republic of Congo. His latest novel The Villain’s Dance (2026) was a finalist for the National Book Award USA for Translated Literature.
