Pirkko Saisio is a Finnish novelist, playwright and screenwriter. She is best known for the acclaimed Helsinki Trilogy, which explores identity, sexuality and the relationship between the individual and society. Lowest Common Denominator was the first volume in the trilogy, followed by Backlight and finally The Red Book of Farewells, which received Finland’s most prestigious literary prize, the Finlandia Prize.
