Sulaiman Addonia

Sulaiman Addonia is an Eritrean-Ethiopian-British novelist based in Brussels. His debut novel The Consequences of Love (2008) was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and translated into more than 20 languages. His second novel Silence is My Mother Tongue (2019) was shortlisted for several international literary awards including the Lambda Literary Awards and the Orwell Prize for Fiction. His latest novel The Seers (2024) was longlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize and the RSL Ondaatje Prize. Addonia founded the Creative Writing Academy for Refugees & Asylum Seekers and the Asmara-Addis Literary Festival in Exile. In 2022 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
