About

Following the success of its inaugural editions in 2023 and 2024, the European Writers’ Festival returns in 2026 for its third edition, now firmly established as a biennial event. The upcoming festival marks a new chapter in the programme’s development, expanding its scope while continuing to celebrate the richness and diversity of contemporary European literature.

Taking place from 16–17 May 2026 at the British Library in London, the festival will feature two full days of panels, performances, readings, and discussions. Organised by EUNIC London in partnership with the European Literature Network and the British Library, and supported by the Delegation of the European Union to the United Kingdom and the European Parliament Liaison Office in the UK, the festival will once again bring together authors, translators, thinkers, and audiences to engage with urgent literary, cultural, and social questions shaping Europe today.

Building on the legacy of the 2024 edition—which welcomed 30 authors from across Europe, including voices from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, and the UK—the 2026 festival will continue to foster cross-cultural dialogue through literature. The programme will highlight a new constellation of established and emerging writers, offering space for exchange across languages, geographies, and perspectives.

Further details, including the full programme and participating authors, will be announced in due course. Stay tuned as we prepare to celebrate the vibrancy, plurality, and evolving landscape of European writing in 2026.
